Alumnus Bill Sweeney, '98, chief of staff for U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, will discuss partisanship in Washginton, D.C., on Wednesday, October 29, at 7 p.m. in Albion College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center, as a guest of the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service.

Landmark Internship: Walles, '15, Helps Bring Back the Bohm

Internships usually provide knowledge and new skills; some lead to permanent employment. For Andrea Walles, ’15, her experience went further: she landed a seat on the board of directors. “I’ve been appointed to a three-year term, even though I’m graduating in a year,” says Walles, who spent last spring semester working with Albion’s Friends of the Bohm Theatre. The internship, offered through the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service, was made possible by the Class of 1960 Albion Community Intern Endowment.

"As a nontraditional student who rents a house in Albion, goes to the grocery store in Albion, goes to the bar in Albion, it was sort of inevitable that I would start to notice that Albion has a business community doing whatever it could to attract jobs," writes Patrick Lopez, '15, who secured an internship with the Albion Economic Development Corporation through the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service. "I thought it would also be interesting to try and help with this a bit."
