Homecoming at Albion College is about reconnecting with old friends, sharing memories of the "good old days," and most importantly – it's about Alumni Band! Every year at Homecoming, past members of the British Eighth Marching Band return for another chance to step onto the football field and making music with the greatest marching band in the MIAA.
This year's Alumni Band will reconvene on Saturday, October 4th, 2014. The Alumni Band and current British Eighth will join forces to play everyone's favorite stands tune "Gimmie Some Lovin'" (dance moves included) as well as demonstrate our Briton spirit with our school's fight song – "Fyte Onne!"
Alumni Band is open to all who have ever donned a red coat with gold buttons, worn a B8 baseball hat, played an instrument, twirled a flag, spun a rifle, or even conducted the band on the hallowed ground that is Schmidt-Fraser Field. There are always plenty of instruments to go around, and all that is required is to sign-up for Alumni Band, and have a desire to relive the glory days!
As we say every year, this is a great opportunity for you to see old friends, relive some crazy B8 memories, and dust off the instrument (or borrow a school instrument) and pretend you are 20 years old again!
As you all know, band is one of the activities/classes on campus here at Albion College that creates a lasting bond among its members, and it is so wonderful to see all of the past members and hear all of their "band stories" and relive a little bit of the Albion College experience. We may have graduated, but we are all still a part of the "greatest marching band in the MIAA!"
