McWhirter Chosen to Participate in 2013-14 Wabash Center Colloquy

Jocelyn McWhirter, associate professor of religious studies, is participating in a 2013-14 colloquy on Religious Commitments in the Undergraduate Classroom. The gathering of 20 religious studies professors first met this past June and will convene again for multiday sessions in February and June 2014. According to the Wabash Center, “At first glance, it might seem odd that there should be a question about the place of religious commitments in undergraduate classes in religion and theology. But most teachers in undergraduate settings know first-hand the force of the question."

Ronney Mourad and Dianne Guinon-LelleJeanne Guyon—wealthy widow in the court of Louis XIV, imprisoned for heresy and her friendship with a powerful cleric—is not the heroine of a historical novel, but the real-life subject of years of scholarship done by French professor Dianne Guenin-Lelle and religious studies professor Ronney Mourad. Their work has resulted in two new books, Jeanne Guyon: Selected Writings, released by Paulist Press, and The Prison Narratives of Jeanne Guyon, published by Oxford University Press.

Religious Studies Emeritus Professor Frank Frick Succumbs to Illness

"Frank Frick was both a great scholar and unforgettable teacher, who had a profound impact on generations of students," said Albion College President Donna Randall. "Particularly noteworthy was the broad range of his interests—spanning religion, history, and international relations—and he enthusiastically engaged students in all of them during his years on the faculty."
