Jared P. Cole is the Technical Director for the Theatre Department. He teaches classes in technical theatre and design. He has a BA in Music and Communication: Theatre from Greenville College in Greenville, IL. He is a graduate of the Hilberry Repertory Theater Company at Wayne State University in Detroit where he received an MFA in Scenic Design. His designs at the Hilberry include The Lusty and Comical History of Tom Jones, The Compleat Female Stage Beauty, and the critically acclaimed All My Sons. Other notable designs include The Wizard of Oz, The Magic Flute, Big River, and Les Misérables at the Bay View Music Festival as well as Hamlet at the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. Other notable designs include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Spitfire Grill, Three from Thebes, Scrooge: The Musical, Street Scenes, A Midsummer Night’s, Doubt: A Parable, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Odyssey, Treasure Island, and The 39 Steps. He has studied internationally at the Moscow Art Theatre School founded by Konstantin Stanislavski where he spent a month in 2010 studying design and attending many performances of Russian theatre. Jared has extensive technical production experience building sets for the Meadow Brook Theatre, BoarsHead Theatre, the Chautauqua Theater Company, and the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. When not designing and building sets, he enjoys directing, acting, and hitting the golf course for a quick round. He also loves traveling to Russia with family!
