ALBION, Mich. — The first winner of NBC's smash hit 'The Voice," Javier Colón, performs a free concert in honor of the inauguration of Albion College president Mauri Ditzler. Colón takes the stage of Albion’s Victory Park band shell at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 12.
Before winning "The Voice" in 2011, Colon appeared twice in concert at Albion College. The singer-songwriter describes his style as "acoustic soul." He collaborated with pop star Natasha Bedingfield on the single "As Long as We Got Love" and has performed on “The Tonight Show.”
“This concert is not to be missed,” said Jennifer Schreer, director for the College’s Campus Programs and Organizations, noting that Colón is a campus favorite who has performed several times in Albion. “Javier's music has a way of taking you a journey, and in the end, you will be grateful you had an opportunity to take it."
Colón’s appearance in Albion is part of the “Celebrate Albion!” festivities accompanying the inauguration of Albion College president Mauri Ditzler. The inauguration ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. on September 12; a full list of activities is available at www.albion.edu/inauguration/schedule.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Albion College Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, 517/629-0448.
