Britons go to work after MIAA 'primary' vote |
|
Thursday, 07 August 2008 |
Craig Rundle begins his 12th season as Albion's head football coach. D. Trumpie photo. While the student-athletes will decide who ultimately wins the 2008 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football championship with their effort on the field over the next 100 days, the head coaches from the seven league schools and media members who cover the MIAA gathered Thursday to cast the primary ballot on which team will be the favorite to hoist the trophy in November. The voters, partially swayed by Albion College's 2-5 league record in 2007, picked the Britons to finish sixth in the MIAA in 2008. Briton men's soccer team heads to Europe |
|
Saturday, 02 August 2008 |
Head Coach Jerry Block is leading the men's soccer team on its second trip to Europe. The veteran members of the Albion College men's soccer team left Friday for its European tour which will run through Aug. 10.
According to head coach Jerry Block, "International travel is now a staple of the Albion College men's soccer experience, as the NCAA allows us to travel abroad every three years. Our time in Belgium and the Czech Republic in 2005 was amazing and I expect nothing less from this adventure."
The Britons will play two games in Holland and another two in Germany. Along the way they will also get to watch some professional training sessions and a pre-season tournament at Feyenoord (including Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund and Celtic).

Britons eager to start 2008 football season |
|
Tuesday, 27 May 2008 |
Bill Bacarella was second in the MIAA in scoring and fourth in rushing last season. D. Trumpie photo. The Albion College football team is aware of the fine line between winning and losing.
The Britons came up on the short end in four games decided by eight points or less in 2007, and had they come away with victories in those contests Albion would have tied for second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The 14 players who gained at least some experience in the starting lineup - and 30 other players who earned varsity awards at the end of last season - are eager for another attempt to scale to the summit of the MIAA's mountain top this fall.
Bill Bacarella, a senior tailback from Monroe, and Andy Motz, a senior defensive lineman from Mendon, were all-MIAA second team selections in 2007.
