In a nutshell, what do you do?

As a Commercial Banking intern for JP Morgan, I learned the three lines of business being credit, banking, and treasury. Credit analysis required financial analysis techniques to effectively assess risk rating. Banking required relationship management with business, ranging in size, to identify and meet their day-to-day needs. Treasury required an understanding of banking services and products to meet businesses banking needs.

Why do you love what you do?

I love what I do because I get to work closely with a range of unique businesses and institutions. Ranging from non-profits, educational institutions, municipalities, and businesses. This makes each day fresh and exciting as there are a plethora of different collaborative projects, assignments, and events. Being able to help all these different entities with their banking needs and witness their growth and impact is truly a special feeling.

How did Albion help you get there?

Albion helped me achieve this employment position in several different facets. First, the network and connections I built through my involvements (Gerstacker Institute, Business Fraternity, Investment Club) at Albion was very important. I spoke directly with a variety of Albion alumni who shared different opportunities and advice that helped tremendously. Second, the coursework and internships helped grow me both professional and personally. During my time at Albion, my knowledge grew in many areas including economics, financial management, accounting, and more. This built a strong foundation as I entered my internship work (Master Plan Investment Group and JP Morgan) where I applied this gained knowledge into real projects and assignments. These internships advanced me professionally in terms of communication and expectations, and advanced me personally in terms of time management and independent skills.

For me, Albion…

…is a home away from home. Coming from a small high school, this was the environment for me to transition into. Albion’s small environment can be leveraged in terms of connecting with professors, getting involved on campus, and accepting opportunities. Albion has provided the necessary resources to not only succeed as a student but also personally. It is important to embrace the challenges and opportunities that arise to maximize growth and success. Albion will forever have a lasting impact on me because of the personal growth, unforgettable academic experiences, life-long friends, and professional opportunities.
