Pre-Health Program
Pursue your passion for healthcare and improve the lives of others. Prepare for a rewarding career in medicine, pharmacy or allied healthcare professions.
Why Study Pre-Health at Albion?
Whether you’re planning to pursue a career as a physician assistant, pharmacist or allied healthcare professional, our pre-health program will provide the solid foundation of knowledge and experience you’ll need for professional school. Thanks to our rigorous academic and co-curricular programming, 96% of students that have applied to medical school over the last eight years and 100% of students that have applied to dental school have been accepted.
Our pre-health track is similar to our pre-medicine, pre-nursing, pre-dental and pre-physical therapy tracks. You’ll select a major, and through the Wilson Medical Institute, pursue the coursework, service, clinical experience and research you’ll need to take your next steps. While many pre-health students choose majors in biology, chemistry or biochemistry, our program complements a wide range of majors, from art, communication studies and music to philosophy, ethnic studies and sociology.
What Will You Learn as a Pre-Health Student?
You’ll develop a broad foundation in biology, chemistry, kinesiology and physics, taking classes in genetics, anatomy, biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.
You’ll participate in professional and cohort experiences that help you work effectively in a team and with patients.
Through our broad liberal arts foundation, you'll build a strong degree of cultural competence, developing skills in critical thinking, written and oral communication and inquiry and reasoning.
You'll learn by doing, gaining hands-on experience through clinical placements, internships, volunteering, community engagement and research.
