Join the Jackson College Launch Pad To Albion College!

Albion College has entered into a new partnership with Jackson College to deliver an unique new cohort program, dubbed the “Jackson College Launch Pad to Albion College.” The program is designed to provide an additional pathway of access to Albion College for students who wish to attend Albion College but do not fully meet admission requirements. Through the program, students will have access to the courses and support they need to be directly admitted into Albion College their sophomore year.

Who Qualifies?

Prospective Albion College students who have not yet met the criteria for admission into Albion may choose to enroll in one of three one-year academic tracks at Jackson College: Business, Biology/Chemistry (Pre-Med), and an Undecided track, designed for students who neither want to study business or biology/chemistry and/or are unsure what field they wish to pursue at Albion College. 

What Courses Transfer?

Defined Tracks for the Jackson College Launch Pad to Albion College 

The tracks listed below are the ideal paths a student should take during their one year at Jackson College; many other classes are approved to transfer into Albion College.

General/Undecided Track

  • ENG 131 or ENG 132
  • MAT 139 or MAT 133
  • Two of the following: BIO 162, CEM 142, or GEL 160 (One must be a lab science course)
  • Two of the following: ANT 131, ECN 232, HIS 231, PSY 140, PLS 141, SOC 231  (The two courses must be from two disciplines)
  • Two of the following: HIS 131, HIS 132, MUS 131, PHL 231, PHL 232, THR 116  (The two courses must be from two disciplines)

Biology/Chemistry Track

  • ENG 131 or ENG 132
  • MAT 151
  • Two of the following: BIO 161, BIO 162, CEM 142, CEM 241, PHY 251, PHY 252 (One must be a lab science course)
  • Two of the following: ANT 131, ECN 232, HIS 231, PSY 140, PLS 141, SOC 231 (The two courses must be from two disciplines)
  • Two of the following: HIS 131, HIS 132, MUS 131, PHL 231, PHL 232, THR 116 (The two courses must be from two disciplines)

Business Track

  • ENG 131 or ENG 132
  • MAT 151
  • Two of the following: BIO 161, BIO 162, CEM 142, CEM 241, PHY 251, PHY 252 (One must be a lab science course)
  • Two of the following: ECN 231, ECN 232, HIS 231, PSY 140, PLS 141, SOC 231 (The two courses must be from two disciplines)
  • Two of the following: HIS 131, HIS 132, MUS 131, PHL 231, PHL 232, THR 116 (The two courses must be from two disciplines)

Requirements

Once students successfully complete the required year at Jackson College, earning a grade point average of 2.5 or above, they will be admitted to Albion College for the following fall semester and also earn a $2,000 annual scholarship towards their Albion tuition.

The program functions as a cohort model, providing students who begin their academic journeys at Jackson with multiple opportunities to visit Albion College as a group throughout the year, as well as regular monthly advising appointments with Albion College staff who travel to Jackson College. Currently, more than 100 prospective Albion College students have expressed interest in the program beginning in fall 2024. 

Students who would otherwise be denied admission to Albion College instead will receive a letter with information regarding the “Jackson College to Albion College Launch Pad” program and admission and academic counseling to support their pathway.
