In a nutshell, what do you do?

I am a Staff Accountant at a non-profit entity, so, in a nutshell I am tasked with several accounting processes including month-end reconciliations and journal entries, annual audit and budget preparation, and assisting in the management of our online bookstore.

Why do you love what you do?

I studied Sociology alongside Accounting at Albion and I always wanted to work in the non-profit world. Being part of an organization which satisfies my love for accounting and my passion for serving others is a blessing.

How did Albion help you get there?

Albion provided me with unlimited resources in my search for a career. Albion’s liberal arts curriculum made me realize the opportunity to explore two otherwise incompatible subjects, Accounting and Sociology. Additionally, constant support from professors, coaches, mentors, and career guidance specialists on campus allowed me to better navigate my career goals after college. Every class from drawing, to social psychology, to corporate tax provided me with new perspectives and skills that have helped moved me towards the career goals I set for myself.

What did you like most about Albion?

The culture at Albion is very welcoming and close-knit, everyone has your back from fellow students to professors which allows every student to comfortably explore themselves and their career while at Albion. I grew immensely during my time at the college because the culture both pushed me and supported me in my endeavors.

For me, Albion…

… gave me skills, experiences, and connections I will always be able to draw on to succeed. The staff at Albion are truly invested in every student and help guide you to heights you didn’t think or know you were capable of.
