Career:
Tax Staff I at Ernst and Young LLP, La Jolla, CA

In a nutshell, what do you do?

I start my full time job on January 8, 2021.

I will be entering as a Tax Staff I in EY’s Diversified Staff Group (DSG) which means I will be working within all the tax teams and serving different clients. The teams include Global Compliance Reporting, International Tax, Private Client Services, Real Estate Tax, and Partnerships. I will be exposed to all different types of tax and teams, which will then allow to me to narrow down what I am interested in the most and enjoy working on. As a Tax Staff I will mostly be working on work papers, updating forms, but also making sure all of our documents and spreadsheets are being updated in compliance with any new laws.

Why do you love what you do?

I had a fantastic internship summer of 2019 at Ernst and Young, so I am very excited to start full time. I was drawn to tax because I like that it is very methodical but there is also an ever changing component. With tax laws and regulations, there will always be updates, changes, and taxes have a very real impact on people and businesses.

How did Albion help you get there?

Albion helped me throughout the entire process and still continues to help me! It was at Albion were I learned more about the Public Accounting career path, and decided to pursue Public Accounting. From my professors, classes, friends, and projects I felt incredibly prepared for my interviews, and my internship with EY. My experiences at Albion College have given me a great foundation to start my career. I owe a lot to Albion.

For me, Albion…

…is my second home. It was home for four years and I loved my time there! My friends from Albion have become my second family and the support I received and continue to receive from the faculty and staff is amazing. I am eternally grateful for my time at Albion and I’m proud to be representing Albion all the way over on the West Coast!
