The Albion College Office of Belonging is hosting its fifth and final in a series of Lunch, Learn and Lead workshops on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Developed and led by Vice President for Belonging and Culture Dr. Taran McZee, the series invited faculty and staff to explore foundational principles of belonging and justice. Attendees were encouraged to share promising practices that move the Albion community closer to inclusive excellence.
The Aug. 9 section will focus on Identifying Trigger Words. Prior sessions explored Juneteenth, Microaggressions, Accessibility and SafeZone Training.
“I was really pleased with how many people joined us for these workshops and the caliber of questions and discussions,” McZee said. “We were standing room only for each, which started dialogues that have continued beyond these sessions. We’re looking forward to extending the conversation into the coming semesters with even more of campus.”
Albion is providing diversity-equity-inclusion-belonging training to 40% of its faculty and staff as part of its first year commitment to a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant from the U.S. Department of Education. One of the goals of the five-year, $2.2 million grant is to increase professional development opportunities for Albion faculty and staff.
