Sharon ‘Zo’ Gates Rees Fellowship for Women in Public Office
Through the generous support of Sharon Rees, a 1953 alumna of Albion College, we are proud to announce the annual Sharon “Zo” Gates Rees, ’53 Fellowship for Women in Public Office. This program promotes the interest of women seeking elected office and makes available to them the knowledge of how to achieve their goals. To this end, the fellowship will support internships in the U.S. House or Senate that provide women students the experience to better understand the processes of becoming elected to and holding public office.
Applications are encouraged from Albion students who plan to intern in Washington, D.C., during the summer. One award in the amount of $1,000 is given annually following a competitive review of all proposals received. The Fellowship may be used to offset housing or other expenses associated with living in Washington, D.C., during the internship period.
Early in the spring semester of each year, an application will be available online to download. Applications may also be picked up at the Gerald Ford Institute for Public Service, located in the Ludington Center.
