Scholarships
Albion College Theatre Scholarships are intended to support a well-rounded study of theatre for talented and qualified students. Scholarships are granted on the basis of perceived ability and promise.
All applicants will be considered who demonstrate the requisite talent and potential for development in any area of theatre study: acting, directing, playwriting, stage management, or costume, scenic, lighting, or sound design. After acceptance by Albion College, a candidate will be invited to schedule an audition or portfolio review with Theatre Department faculty members.

Scholarship Applications
Scholarship auditions and requests for portfolio reviews will be accepted beginning October 1 of a student’s senior year.
Scholarship Submission Deadlines
For priority scholarship consideration, high school seniors and transfer students must apply by Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.
Application Process
Students must audition and/or interview with the Theatre Department prior to receiving their scholarship decision. Students who have expressed interest in Theatre on their application will be contacted regarding audition submission and to schedule an interview. Scholarship Requirements
The Theatre Scholarship candidates will:
- Apply to Albion College and express interest in theatre on your application;
- Schedule an audition;
- Audition and/or present portfolio on campus with the theatre faculty.
Actors
Designers
Stage Managers
Playwrights
Please prepare two contrasting monologues from published plays OR one monologue and 16-32 bars of a song. Your total audition should not exceed four minutes.
Students with experience in Scenic, Costume, Lighting, or Sound Design will be asked to present a representative sample of their design work during an interview session. Unrealized designs are welcome.
Students with experience in Stage Management will be asked to interview with Theatre faculty. Please be prepared to share any materials that will help tell the story of your experience as a stage manager. Call books, reports, production photos, and video content are welcome.
You will be asked to submit a representative sample of your writing in advance of your interview with Theatre faculty. You are welcome to submit as many scripts as you wish, but quality is valued over quantity.
