Alumni Awards

Submit a Nomination

All awardees must meet the following criteria:

  • Only alumni of the College shall be eligible for these awards.
  • Individuals can be nominated posthumously within 5 years of their passing.

Exempted from consideration are current members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, members of the College’s Board of Trustees (not including honorary Trustees), faculty and staff. Once an individual is no longer in any of the above categories, they will be eligible for consideration.

Note that the quality and detail of the nomination materials have a significant impact on the selection process. Successful nominations often include supporting materials such as: resume/curriculum vitae; articles about the nominee; letters of support from fellow alumni, former professors, and/or people who know the nominee professionally.

Nominations are open year-round. Deadline for nominations is October 31. Submissions on or after November 1 will be considered for the following year.

Distinguished Alumni Award Criteria

Each year Albion College presents the Distinguished Alumni Award, honoring alumni who have demonstrated excellence in career achievements and contributions to community and humanity. Those chosen for this prestigious award will be distinguished in their chosen business, profession or life’s work and a person of such integrity, stature, demonstrated ability and commitment to Albion College that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of the College will take pride in, and be inspired by, their recognition.

Young Alumni Award Criteria

The Young Alumni Award honors alumni who have achieved great success and/or service to the College in their first 10 years after graduation. Each year, honorees offer inspiration and encouragement as models for principled leadership and a wholehearted commitment to serving others. In addition, the Young Alumni Awards serve as an opportunity for current and future Albion students to recognize the tremendous accomplishments of alumni who have achieved notable success quickly following graduation.

James L. Curtis Alumni Leadership Award Criteria

The James L. Curtis Alumni Leadership Award recognizes Black alumni that have made significant contributions of time and effort to Albion College and its students.

Athletic Hall of Fame Criteria

The purpose of the Albion College Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the achievements and prestige of Albion College in the field of athletics. Men and women are honored either by virtue of their performance on athletic teams representing the College, or by meritorious efforts in years after graduation. An athlete must have earned two letters in one sport or one letter in three or more sports.

Women who graduated before 1975 must have participated in the Women’s Athletic Association (WAA). An athlete must have been an alumnus/alumna for at least 10 years to be eligible for selection.Athletic administrators or others who are not alumni must have served the College at least 10 years to be eligible. An athletic administrator can be selected immediately after leaving the institution or immediately after retirement. A team is eligible if it has won an MIAA Championship and 10 years have elapsed since competition.
