The Albion College English Department hosts their annual Charles Crupi Memorial Poetry Celebration Monday, April 17, at 5 p.m. in the Bobbitt Visual Arts Center.
The event will celebrate poetry and young poets and the teachers who teach them. Along with presentations of this year’s winning poetry, two teachers will be inducted into the Crupi Memorial Society for Excellence in the Teaching of Poetry.
One of Albion’s most popular professors for some 35 years, Crupi retired from the faculty in 2009, passing away in 2010. During his long tenure as the English department chair, Crupi established the Michigan High School Poetry Contest, now renamed in his memory. The adjudicated contest draws hundreds of entries yearly from high school students across Michigan.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Albion College English department, 517/629-0232.
