Albion College Appoints Five New Members to Its Board of Trustees

Albion College recently welcomed five new members to its Board of Trustees. They include:

Alena Farooq, ’18

Farooq

Farooq, a recent graduate trustee, majored in social entrepreneurship and business and was a member of the Prentiss M. Brown Honors Program, the Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management and the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service.

Farooq has been a community volunteer for the Albion Food Hub, Citizens to Beautify Albion, the Albion Parks and Recreation Department and the Citizens Advisory Council, among other entities. She completed an internship with the Quicken Loans Community Investment Fund and is currently a program associate for Urban Alliance in Detroit.

Kate Hao, ’99

Hao

Hao, who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Albion and her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Public Accountant and Financial Risk Manager.

She is the founder and chief executive officer of Happy Mango, a financial services and credit analytics company in New York. She was previously the treasurer of the broker-dealer subsidiary of Morgan Stanley.

Paul Huth, ’77

Huth

Huth earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and management and political science, and has remained engaged with Albion since graduation. He has been a non-trustee member of the College’s Investment Committee as well as a longtime supporter of the Ford Institute.

Huth earned his J.D. and L.L.M. in tax from Michigan State University and Wayne State University, respectively. He founded Huth Lynett, a Detroit-based real estate capital firm, in 1982.

Madison Kase, ’18

Kase

Kase graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in public policy and religious studies with a concentration in the Ford Institute. She was recognized with the John and Williemae Cheek Award as Outstanding Religious Studies Major, the Outstanding Public Policy Major Award and the President Gerald R. Ford Leadership Award.

A recent graduate trustee, Kase works in corporate management at the Kroger Company in Detroit.

Brian McPheely, ’78

McPheely

McPheely, who earned his B.A. in economics and management and visual arts, has served since 2009 as chief executive officer of Pratt Industries, where he is responsible for all aspects of the North American company including containerboard, corrugated products, technology and recycling.

He began his career as a packing industry sales representative and eventually moved up to general management with the Georgia Box Group. He also served as general manager of specialty packaging for Visy Industries in Australia.

The Albion College Board of Trustees consists of 29 members for the 2018-19 academic year. Recent graduate trustees serve two-year terms while all other trustees serve three-year terms.
