Albion College, one of the 50 most innovative liberal arts colleges in the country, announced today the hiring of Marc A. Newman as Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Albion College President Dr. Mathew Johnson made the announcement.
“Our priority at Albion College is developing a strategic and sustainable vision for the future for our students and their education,” said Johnson. “Marc is a proven leader who embodies the purpose-driven, community-centric mindset reflected throughout our college. We are eager to see him apply his significant expertise to Albion’s advancement and donor relations strategy as we usher in a new phase of growth and transformation.”
Newman formerly served as vice president of advancement, research and economic development at Grambling State University in Grambling, La. and has over 20 years of higher education and fundraising experience. His areas of expertise include grant writing, campaign leadership, fiscal management, governmental relations, board development, special events planning and leadership development.
“I am looking forward to the exciting work we have ahead of us at Albion,” said Newman. “Dr. Johnson and his team have a bold vision for the College’s future that resonated with me immediately. My family and I look forward to being a part of the Albion community for years to come.”
In his new role at Albion, Newman will work closely with the president on an institution-wide fundraising strategy that will support the redevelopment of physical and programmatic aspects of the College. He will be responsible for developing campaigns, engaging alumni and donors as Albion brand ambassadors, and promoting the College’s pillars of purpose, belonging, and action by creating a culture of philanthropy and gratitude for all stakeholders.
Newman graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University before receiving a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. He has completed several educational enrichment programs including the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management and is currently pursuing his doctorate in developmental education with a concentration in higher education administration at Grambling State University.
