Victim/Survivor Services
Here when you need support.
A Victim Advocate is a member of the Albion College community who have been trained to offer support, advocacy, information, and referrals exclusively to current Albion College students, faculty, and staff who are survivors of a violent crime. You may be unsure of whether or not you meet the criteria, but do not let that deter you from seeking services; our advocates will help you make sense of what happened and get you to the right place. All services are free and do not require health insurance.
Advocates are trained to maintain confidentiality, meaning that they will not disclose information about a client without written permission, except in instances where the client is an imminent and violent threat toward themselves or others, or the client discloses information related to the abuse of a child or vulnerable adult (in which case the proper authorities will be notified so that help can be provided). Speaking with an Advocate does not mean that you are obligated to make a report to the Title IX office, Campus Safety, or Albion Public Safety.
While the Center updates its policies and procedures surrounding Victim Advocates, you may schedule an appointment with the Anna Howard Shaw Center Director and Victim Advocate Lisa Winchell-Caldwell. To schedule an appointment, please contact Lisa directly at [email protected] or fill out the appointment request form.
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or you are concerned about your safety call 517-629-1234 or 911.
