    Michelle Croce received her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Union Institute and University in 2013. She has worked extensively with survivors of sexual assault and childhood trauma, families with school aged children, and college students, and has experience with a variety of mental and physical health problems including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, AD/HD and learning disabilities, and family and relationship issues. Her treatment approach incorporates research and client preferences, blending cognitive behavioral therapy principles, systemic strategies, and mindfulness practices. Michelle believes that people often have tools which, when identified, accessed and nurtured, can aide in problem resolution and improve overall life satisfaction.

  • Shannon Ufkes, MA, LLP, CAADC

    Assistant Director for Mental Health/Counseling

    Shannon earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University in 1996 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from WMU in 1993.  She is also certified in the state of Michigan as an Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor.  Shannon has enjoyed working as a therapist for 26 years and has a broad range of experience.  She does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and utilizes a multitude of theories and experiences to meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual.  She is committed to the people she serves.  She recognizes this time period in your life as particularly important in developing your sense of who you are in the world and in relationships with others.  In her free time she enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction, hanging with her family and dog, cooking and baking, and learning new things, not necessarily in that order.

  • Tyler VanEvery, LLPC

    Counselor

    Tyler earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2024 and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2020. He has extensive therapeutic experience working with children, teens, and young adults affected by trauma, depression, anxiety, and environmental instability.
    Tyler utilizes concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and a Person-Centered approach to guide his clients through their unique struggles. He believes that everyone possesses inherent strengths and qualities that foster resilience in difficult circumstances, and these factors are crucial to promoting overall mental health.
    Tyler also has experience in working with athlete mental health and mental skills training, helping athletes enhance their performance by focusing on their mental well-being and developing skills such as focus, resilience, and stress management.
    Outside of his professional life, Tyler enjoys spending time with his family, tennis, golf, running, and watching all of Detroit’s professional sports teams.

  • Melissa Sommers, RMA, Certified Healthcare Navigator, Case Manager

    After becoming a registered medical assistant, Melissa spent time working in a variety of health care offices such as Podiatry, Family practice, Cardiology, and Pulmonary. Melissa began her career at Albion College in 2012, working as a registered medical assistant in the student health clinic. Melissa now works as a health care navigator for students, assisting with things such as health insurance, mental health triage, and other basic medical needs. As the Assistant Director of Campus Wellness, Melissa is in charge of campus-wide wellness events and activities. Melissa is also the BLS/CPR instructor for campus.

  • Amalia Kalergis

    Amalia is a 3rd year graduate student at Eastern Michigan University in the College Counseling program. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2021 earning a Bachelor’s degree in English literature and language, Spanish, and Psychology. Amalia believes people are greater than the sum of their parts, so she seeks to understand the unique interplay of each aspect of who you are. This means no counseling relationship is the same. Amalia utilizes a collaborative, client-centered approach that emphasizes meeting you where you’re at and providing a non-judgmental space for self-exploration. Counseling is about having an empowering space where we work collaboratively to promote overall well-being. In her free time, she enjoys reading romance novels (when not reading study materials), traveling, watching movies, kayaking, procrastibaking, and spending time with friends and family.

    I’m David Humphries, a 4th year doctoral practicum trainee. I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada, but Michigan has been my home for 16 years. I’ve worked as a therapist for over a decade. I hope to provide a welcoming, accepting, confidential, safe therapeutic space to understand and address your life struggles and challenges. Together, with an empathetic, respectful, and listening ear, I look forward to exploring “what it’s like to be you” on your path toward healing and growth.
