Scholarships are a gift. They change lives, allowing entry into a world of thought and exploration that would otherwise not be possible. We believe in their transformative power, and are always working to provide more.

Albion offers a variety of merit and special scholarships ranging from $26,000 to $40,000 as well as performance scholarships, regardless of need. Scholarship notifications begin November 1.

Merit Scholarships

All applicants are automatically considered, and recipients are awarded merit scholarships based upon overall academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, leadership, and personal merit (notification occurs at the time of admission). All merit scholarships are renewable each year at the same amount, subject to satisfactory academic progress and can only be applied towards tuition charges.

Special Scholarships

The following scholarship opportunities require additional steps beyond the application for admission and are renewable for all four years unless otherwise noted. See details below:

Senior Visit — $2,000

All scholarship levels automatically receive the Senior Visit scholarship as part of their acceptance packet and financial aid award if they visit within their senior year to lock in the award.

Out of State Scholarships — $3,000

All out-of-state students qualify automatically for this scholarship.

Alumni/Legacy — $3,000

Parents, siblings, or grandparents must be a graduate of Albion College in order to receive this scholarship. Students should indicate their alumni connections on their application for admission to receive this award.

Referral — $3,000

Applicants must submit a referral form prior to being admitted in order to qualify for a referral scholarship. Students cannot receive both the Alumni/Legacy and Referral scholarships.

Phi Theta Kappa — $3,000

This award is for transfer students who have been members of Phi Theta Kappa for at least one semester.

Albion College Promise

Albion College Promise: Supporting Michigan Families

The Albion College Promise is exclusive to graduating Michigan high school seniors and transfer students. Albion College will cover 100% of tuition for Michigan families making under $55,000 annually after the Michigan Tuition Grant, Michigan Achievement Scholarship, and Federal Pell Grant are applied. Families are responsible for feeds, as well as housing and food charges; however, federal loans may be applied toward these costs.

Students from Albion, Kalamazoo and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan have the ability for location-specific merit-based scholarships.

Fine Arts Scholarships

Fine Arts scholarships are available based on demonstrated talent (regardless of academic major) to students planning to participate in art, music, or theatre. These scholarships require an additional interview or audition and are available to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and refugees. David Randall Chemistry Scholarship

The David Randall Chemistry Scholarship is available to students who plan to major or are majoring in chemistry. Based upon an applicant’s academic record and student intent to pursue an advanced degree in chemistry or related science. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew the scholarship. Methodist Student Aid Programs

Scholarships also are available through the United Methodist church. Some require an additional application.

John Wesley Matching Scholarship

Albion College will match a scholarship that a student receives from his/her local United Methodist Church up to $1,000. Complete the John Wesley Scholarship Application for consideration.

Triple Your Dollars for Scholars

Albion College participates in the “Triple Your Dollars for Scholars” program through the United Methodist Foundation. Visit the United Methodist Higher Education foundation’s UM Dollars for Scholars page for details about this scholarship program.

Scholarships for International Students

All admitted international students are eligible for awards covering approximately 60% of expenses. Students will be notified at the time of acceptance of their scholarship value. International students and their families can expect to contribute $25,000-$35,000 per year towards their education at Albion.
