Events going from history to hot topics mark this year’s Women’s History Month celebrations at Albion College. These events are free and open to the public. Did You Know? A Look Back at Powerful Women in History – The Albion College student AAUW group presents a visual display of women throughout history.

Slam Poetry Night – Guest performers Katie Wirsing and Ashlee Haze are current fixtures on the national and international slam poetry scenes, each performing more than 100 times in 2017.

Film, Equal Means Equal – An unflinching look at how women are treated in the United States today, including real-life stories and precedent-setting cases, ultimately presenting a compelling and persuasive argument for the urgency to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

Anna Howard Shaw Keynote Lecture, “Feminist Founders” – Senior women faculty will participate in a panel sharing the rich history of Albion College’s Anna Howard Shaw Women’s Center and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program. The conversation will cover key events within and outside of Albion College, including the advent of sexual harassment policies and today’s #MeToo movement.
