According to a report from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce, the return on investment of an Albion College degree grows dramatically over the years.
In “A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges,” data from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard are used to determine return on investment from public and private universities and colleges.
The report determined each institution’s ROI using a metric of net present value—the sum of money in the future valued today. This metric includes costs, future earnings and the length of time it would take to invest and earn a certain amount of money over a fixed horizon.
Using that NPV, Albion ranks in the top quintile of Michigan private nonprofit colleges across an entire career, 10 to 40 years after graduation. Albion’s standing in the study on the national level is also impressive, placing in the top 17 percent of all colleges and universities after 20 years (No. 761 overall) and in the top 14 percent after 30 years (No. 645) and 40 years (No. 622).
