All Journalism is Local: A Conversation with Aydali Campa of Inside Climate News

December 1, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join the Pleiad Friday, Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. in Norris 101 for the inaugural Richard M. Smith, ’68, Pleiad Speaker Series talk.

Aydali Campa is a bilingual multimedia journalist in Chicago, originally from the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona. Her award-winning story on Mexican children crossing the border to attend schools in the U.S., her work with Teach for America, and COVID-19 coverage for The Arizona Republic and the Wall Street Journal have shaped her focus on in-depth journalism. For Inside Climate News, she produced a series about the mistrust two historically Black communities in Atlanta had of the federal government remediating their home’s soil from lead.

In a Q&A with Pleiad adviser Krista Quesenberry, Campa will discuss her career and open up our campus dialogues about environmental justice, bilingual communication, career preparation, journalism ethics and more.

Pre-purchased Pleiad fundraiser t-shirts will be available for pick-up. This event is free and open to the public.
