Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15, 2023 @ 8:00 am - October 15, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), Albion College will celebrate its diverse and dynamic Hispanic & Latin American community with a series of events focusing on both culture and challenges, while commemorating Latinx pride.

This year’s theme for Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month is What is Hispanic? Culture, Politics, and Life.

New V.P. of Belonging & Culture, Dr Taran McZee, emphasized the importance of the celebration saying, “Hispanic Heritage Month is a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of diverse cultures, traditions, and resilience. It’s not just about celebrating a culture; it’s about recognizing the invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latino individuals to our shared history, society, and future.”

Events are sponsored by various organizations and programs, including the Office of Campus Life, Division of Student Development, Office of Belonging, Metz, Organization for Latinx Awareness, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Sorority Inc., Mosaic Employee Resource Group, and the James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging. Programming includes a flag acknowledgement, cultural dining in Baldwin, and cultural discussions (both in-person and online).
