Make the transition to intercollegiate riding with IHSA Coach Adam D’Agostino at the Varsity Western College-Bound Equestrian Camp.
Campers will be immersed in the camp curriculum and follow the daily camp schedule from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students will ride twice per day and also attend unmounted lectures on various equine topics and other college related areas.
Camp Details
Designed for rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Our camp sessions will focus on building not only competitive riding skills of students, but also their knowledge and understanding of general horsemanship in western disciplines. Incoming Albion first-year Western equestrians welcome with coach approval. This is a residential/overnight camp. Housing and meals are provided; please indicate any dietary needs or special accommodation requests during registration.

Who should join us
- Co-educational camp for male and female equestrians age 16-19
- Limited to 6 riders
Riding disciplines & Prerequisites
- Western (horsemanship and ranch riding)
- Riders must be experienced and able to tack up/untack their own horse and perform basic riding maneuvers. Video will be required as part of the registration.
Daily Schedule
- 8:00 a.m. – Breakfast
- 9:00 a.m. – Campers arrive to Held Equestrian Center
- 10:00 a.m. – First Ride
- 11:30 a.m. – Lunch
- 12:30 p.m. – Unmounted educational activity
- 2:00 p.m. – Second Ride
- 4:00 p.m. – Depart for campus housing
- 6:30 p.m. – Dinner and Evening Activity
Cost
- $750.00 ($100 non-refundable deposit due at the time of registration)
Supervision
- All riding instruction is given by the coach of the Albion College Varsity Western Equestrian team along with current Albion College student equestrians, who serve as camp counselors.
