Amy Routhier named Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Amy Routhier ‘99 has been named vice president for institutional advancement, effective immediately. 

Routhier, who has been serving the Albion as interim vice president for institutional advancement since April, brings a deep love and passion for her alma mater.

“I am thrilled to have Amy continue on in this role and have every confidence in her work and leadership as we prepare to launch new initiatives and ask for the support necessary to make our ambitions a reality,” said Albion College President Wayne Webster.

In 2022, Routhier returned to Albion to lead the administration of all public and private grants and foundation relations after serving in a variety of fundraising, marketing, enrollment, and program development roles at Western Michigan University. Last year, she gained greater responsibility over the recruitment, management, and coaching of philanthropy officers and the strategies for meaningful donor engagement with Albion. 

For the past six months, she has led the Institutional Advancement team through a thorough analysis of their systems and practices resulting in necessary updates to their database this summer and a slate of new and ongoing practices that will ensure data quality moving forward. In partnership with Huron/GG&A consultants, she oversaw a complete review of all department practices, structures, and policies. She also regularly works as a partner with College administrators, institutes, staff, faculty, and students in support of philanthropic goals.

“Collectively, this work creates an important roadmap for Albion as we assess our readiness and prepare for a campaign in support of the Pathway Forward strategic plan priorities as well as other priorities yet to be identified,” added Webster. “Amy and her team have laid out an aggressive set of goals and strategies for the year ahead around increasing both engagement and philanthropy, and I am looking forward to spending many hours on the road with Amy and IA team members to advocate for support of Albion’s work and mission.”

Routhier graduated from Albion in 1999 with a dual major in psychology and Spanish. During her time as a student, she studied abroad in Seville, Spain. She earned an M.A. in social sciences from the University of Chicago in 2000.

She brings a track record of cultivating and stewarding transformational major gifts for critical priorities at Western, knows Albion well, and is deeply connected to the greater Kalamazoo community.
