Tim DeWitt, who has held several positions in the Division of Finance and Administration in his 12 years at Albion College and who currently serves as the College’s interim chief financial officer, has been named the new president of Lumen Christi Catholic School in Jackson and the executive director of the Jackson Catholic Schools system.
DeWitt, who in his time with Albion beginning in 2008 has also served as chief risk officer, chief investment officer, budget director and treasurer before stepping in as CFO in May, will continue to advise President Dr. Mathew B. Johnson on a part-time basis as a new CFO is hired.
“Tim’s faith has always been a driving force in his life and to have this opportunity—especially at his high school alma mater, and that of his two sons—has always been a personal dream” Dr. Johnson said. “And, while we will miss his commonsense approach and his business acumen, we also wish him the best as he embarks on the next adventure.”
DeWitt said the decision to leave Albion was difficult, but one he needed to make.
“Though I have been preparing for my next life journey for over a year, the opportunity to commit to my next step has come earlier than I anticipated and I am off to a great new adventure,” he said. “I have often said that I loved every day I came to work at Albion. The work was important, meaningful and necessary. Words cannot begin to describe how grateful I am for the opportunity to work and represent Albion College. I am not the same person as I was when I first came here in 2008. I believe I am better, maybe a little wiser. As excited as I am about my next career, I will miss Albion College and the Albion community.”
