Sarah Lindner, ’23, has no problem getting out of her comfort zone. Choosing a college 3,660 miles from her hometown of Two Rivers, Alaska, wasn’t a problem, and Lindner had expected to go even farther abroad during college.

There probably isn’t a question Albion astronaut Josh Cassada, ’95, has not already answered during his numerous interviews and downlinks while aboard the International Space Station.

Rivard and Endsley have new stamps in their passports now thanks to Dr. Clayton Parr’s first-year seminar on Vienna and Albion Go Grants. Endsley was in Parr’s first-year seminar, and Rivard participated through the music major colloquium course.

Vicki Baker, professor of economics and management at Albion College, is considered an expert on helping faculty members figure out what’s next in their careers. When she is not teaching, she devotes much of her time helping others find their career advancement and leadership opportunities. She has written several books about the topic. Being named as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow for 2023-24, she will now turn that focus on her own career.

What began as stargazing and watching the aurora borealis as a kid in rural Wisconsin has led her to the stratosphere of her discipline and her latest achievement — being elected as a 2022 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

“When I came back after the renovations, I was glad to see all of my problems were solved,” said Loukotka, a third-year student from Pinckney majoring in political science. “The carpet and the stains had been replaced and the new unit they installed got rid of the humidity issue, while simultaneously cooling down the place. The new renovations gave me the opportunity to move into basically a new apartment. And I truly enjoy having the opportunity to live there and call it home.”

It’s a story about New York City and its residents — but Albion College history professor Marcy Sacks was the expert who contributed to an article featured in the Feb. 15 edition of the New York Times. The article, “Before Lincoln Center, San Juan Hill was a Vibrant Black Community,” describes the predominantly Black and Hispanic neighborhood that was razed to build the Lincoln Center.
