The Albion College Investment Club recently traveled to Chicago where students met with professionals from several financial institutions and networked with alumni.
During the November 14-15 trip, the group visited Bank of America, where they gained insights into the world of corporate banking and finance. At LaSalle Investment Management, the students learned about real estate investment strategies and how the firm manages global real estate assets.
The trip also included a visit to the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), where students were exposed to the inner workings of options trading and market dynamics.
“Throughout the trip, the students networked with Albion alumni, strengthening professional connections and gaining valuable career advice,” said Carrie Adamczyk, visiting assistant professor in the Economics and Management Department who accompanied the students on the trip. “The experience provided both educational opportunities and networking connections that will help the students as they pursue careers in finance and investment.”
Investment Club President Blake Miller ’26 said the highlight of the trip for him was visiting the CBOE.
“We got an inside look at the trading floor,” Miller said. “This was such an awesome experience as we got to see options being traded in real-time using hand signals and vocal cues rather than computer systems…During this trip I gained valuable life lessons on how to improve my leadership skills, my financial skills, and how to be a better investor. Meeting with different alumni gave me an inside perspective on the transition from Albion to their job and the life lessons that come with the transition from college to your first job.”
Added Hailey Agnew ’26, “It was an eye-opening experience to visit with alumni at Bank of America and hear firsthand about their career journeys in the finance world. We also got the chance to watch live stock trading in action, which was both exciting and educational. I want to thank everyone in the department for making this trip possible, as it’s given me valuable insights into the finance industry and reinforced my passion for investing.”
