10 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. | Session 1: Exploring the Albion Community (Optional)
Participants will have the option to participate in one or more of the following activities to learn about the connections between Albion College and the community of Albion, Michigan. Details coming soon!
12 – 2 p.m. | Keynote Luncheon
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Nicole Webster
Participants will be provided with a catered lunch.
2:15 – 3:15 p.m. | Session 2: Introduction to participating institutions
Participants will introduce themselves and their institutions via brief lightning talks. These will be short, structured, and allow each institution to introduce themselves, their goals for the meeting, and experience they have with community engagement. 4 minutes per institution.
3:15 – 6 p.m. | Session 3: Contributed Talks – How to set up college-community partnerships
Talks will take place in a single session.
6:30 – 8 p.m. | Dinner
Join conference attendees for dinner in town (provided).
Tuesday, June 7, 2022
7:30 – 8:45 a.m. | Breakfast
Coffee, tea, and pastries available at the Albion College Science Complex Atrium
8:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Session 3: Contributed Talks
30-minute talks to present engagement and ties between campuses, classrooms, and communities. Presenters will share their successes and innovations, pose questions, or propose potential new directions for building sustainable university-community partnerships.
Talks will take place in three concurrent sessions.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m. | Student Posters
Poster presentations that highlight student community-focused work or community-engaged research.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m. | Lunch
Lunch will be provided. This will be an informal time to mingle and visit the poster session.
2 – 5:00 p.m. | Session 4: Working groups
Participants will have the option to choose among different tracks during this time. Each track will have a different structure and focus (detailed below), but all will give participants the opportunity to develop plans for their own campuses.
Local-to-Global connections in the classroom
This workshop will allow teaching faculty and staff the opportunity to explore potential ways to work community engagement into their classes, particularly with a global focus. Activities will include structured brainstorming with other participants, a discussion of how to use technology to facilitate global connections in the classroom, and development of an implementation plan for these ideas.
Sustaining community partnerships
This workshop will allow community facing staff and faculty to explore ways to build and maintain local and global relationships. Activities will include structured brainstorming with other participants, a discussion of how to use technology to improve monitoring and assessment, and development of an implementation plan for these ideas.

Wednesday, June 8, 2022

Coffee, tea, and pastries available at the Albion College Ludington Center.
9 – 11:45 a.m. | Session 5: Sharing ideas and wrapping up
Participants will report back to the whole group from the working groups done on Tuesday. The main goal of this session is for all conference participants to have an idea of how the topics covered in the working groups can be applied to their home institutions.
12 – 2 p.m. | Keynote Luncheon

Participants will be provided with a catered lunch.
